Revista este unul dintre principalele organe de difuzare a rezultatelor cercetarilor arheologice si istorice privind istoria straveche, veche si medie a Romaniei. Ea se bucura de colaborarea specialistilor de la institute de cercetari, din universitati si de la muzeele din intreaga tara. O pondere mare se acorda studiilor de sinteza, insotite de rezumate in limbi de mare circulatie. Se adreseaza specialistilor, cadrelor didactice universitare si studentilor din facultatile de profil.
